New Krishna

It might be weird to think that this week's decision was influenced by my favorite band, but it was. Because this week's blogging day happened to fall on a very famous singer's birthday. And this particular singer reportedly had a fondness for Indian food, so I headed over the New Krishna Indian Cuisine. Yet another strip store restaurant, this one is located next to a Japanese bakery and across the street from another Indian restaurant (is there some sort of rivalry going on?). It's a seat yourself place and it wasn't very crowded, so we didn't have to wait for a table. I immediately caught sight of the clear panels lining the top part of the booths that were decorated with what looked like hand paintings of fish. I came here on a mission for chicken dal, and mission accomplished, because there it was on the menu. Selecting the level 3 spice level, we also ordered the garlic naan for the table of myself, my mom, and my brother. One thing I noticed is that the water glasses we were given at the start were never empty, which is always a plus in my opinion. But of course, it all comes down to the food. Chicken dal is a lentil chicken curry dish usually served with rice and even though it isn't listed on the menu, the rice was included. Getting the proper tenderness in chicken can be difficult due to the dangers of undercooking chicken. They managed to cook the chicken to just the right tenderness, along with the rice. The sauce was well seasoned, and the spice level was exactly how I prefer it. As for the naan, it had a good balance of softness and crispiness and just the right amount of garlic. We all ended up taking food home though, because these were decent sized portions. If you love Indian food, this is a place I highly recommend. Run, don't walk to New Krishna, and Happy Birthday Freddie Mercury!
