Two Cities Pizza

One type of inconvenience in life I find rather annoying is craving a type of food that is specific to a certain city/state that you don't live there. I have my fair share of those foods, including Maine lobster and New Orleans beignets, but one that I crave often is Chicago deep-dish pizza. It's something I've eaten quite a bit due to having an aunt who lives in Chicago, so when a restaurant in my vicinity is advertising it, of course that'll get my attention. Two Cities Pizza in downtown Mason, an art deco style building is the place I'm talking about. They also advertise New York pizza, but I only had my eyes for one city this time around. Venturing there tonight along with my brother, we decided on their covered patio seating and chose our pizza relatively quickly. One by the name of Yul Kravitz, containing pepperoni, spinach, and feta cheese along with the standard mozzarella and chunky tomato sauce. Not a combination I've ever seen before, but I love all of those things, so I figured it would be good. Fair warning, only order a deep-dish pizza if you have patience, because they can take a little longer than standard crust. But was it worth the wait? First off, the cheese pull! One bite in particular produced a pull almost the length of my arm. And what's pizza without a good cheese pull? As for taste, the tomato sauce was a perfect mix of sweet, tangy, and whatever you call the flavor produced by the herbs in tomato sauce. But the thing that stood out to me the most was the crust. Instead of being doughy, this one was flaky, like a pie crust. Honestly, I think more pizzas should have flaky crust, because it's amazing. Honestly, the best deep-dish pizza outside of Chicago I've ever had. If you want a taste of Chicago, but don't have time to actually go there, then get yourself a Two Cities deep-dish!

That cheese pull!
That cheese pull!
